Loughborough Autotest
Event Report
Blyton Kart Track provided a fitting end to the 2014 Demon Tweeks BTRDA and Link-up MSA autotest championships. Loughborough Car Club made excellent use of the circuit with tight technical tests which challenged the top competitors. Malcolm Livingston took the early lead from Alastair Moffatt but it was a fast charging Richard Pinkney who recovered from three penalties to snatch the win on the last round and with it both the MSA and BTRDA Gold Star titles. Paul Fobister’s chance of winning the championships suffered a blow when his handbrake failed and he suffered a maximum. However Fobister and Dave Evans had their usual close battle and finished 1 second apart after the maximum for Fobister and three penalties on the last test for Evans. Fobister finished second and Evans third in both championships. Malcolm Livingston was lucky to finish the event when an oil pipe burst on the Lindsay Special, fortunately while Martin MacKenzie was driving.
