“Northern Weekend”

BTRDA Round 9, Seaton Carew, Saturday 19th July 2014 and BTRDA Round 10, Leeds, Sunday 20th July 2014

 

The Demon Tweeks Direct BTRDA Autotest Championship moved to the North for the latest rounds shared with the Link-up MSA British Championship. Local drivers Paul Swift in the Mini Special and Richard Pinkney in his Caterham filled the first two places at Seaton Carew on Saturday in monsoon conditions. Dave Cook made the best of the conditions with his Micra to win the saloon class from Warren Gillespie in the more powerful Nova, both finishing in the top ten.

 

Fortunately it was dry on Sunday at Sherburn, near Leeds and Richard Pinkney made the most of the conditions to add to his FTDs in 2014. Paul Fobister took 2.8 seconds off Dave Evans on the last test to take second place by 0.5 seconds. The clutch cable on Chris Chapman’s Striker broke on tests 5 but he was able to dash home for a new one which allowed him to finish fourth. Warren Gillespie went one better than Saturday with a class win and ninth overall.
