In publishing our 2020 Car Trials Championship drivers’ awards, the organising committee wish to publicly acknowledge the part that the car clubs associated with our qualifying rounds have played in enabling our championship contenders to actually reach the end of season Grand Final Trial. The championship is built, as always, on its qualifying rounds, but in this exceptional year six clubs rose to the challenge thrown up by the Covid-19 pandemic and we were able to compete on 5 exceptional events within 7 weeks (usually more like 7 months!). Named alphabetically, a big, big thank you to:
Falcon Motor Club, Owen Motoring Club, Windwhistle Motor Club, Wolverhampton & South Staffs Car Club, Woolbridge Motor Club. The 6th club is, of course, Ross & District Motor Sports for hosting the Final.
We should also note that North Wales Car Club played its part, making several attempts at putting on their Gerry P Evans Memorial Cymru Trial, initially defeated by the weather and ultimately by Covis-19 in March.
A report on the Grand Final Trial and more on the back story in this exceptional year will appear in due course. Now would also be a good time to congratulate our new Gold Star winner, Trevor Moffatt, for joining a growing number of car trials drivers who have achieved “the double” by winning the Motorsport UKĀ championship in the same year.
