Kevin Roberts from Corwen in North Wales, competing in his Dutton Phaeton, seized has chance of becoming Gold Star Champion by winning the Grand Final Trial. In a closely fought contest to the finish, with a number of drivers bringing scores from the qualifying rounds sufficient to offer a good chance of winning the coveted Gold Star, Kevin’s near perfect score gave him a comfortable lead over Rupert North (Suzuki Alto) in the premier league table.
Equally pleased on the day was Garry Preston with his maximum points coming into the Final and he was privileged to be competing in an ex Mike Sones Mini Cooper S to round off a super year and take the Silver Star award.
It was also fitting that Kevin’s shared Dutton featured as the Bronze Star winning car at the hands of Aled Charles.
