Matthews Auto Salvage Trial

Event Report

Shawn Franklin won his first national BTRDA car trial in the Matthews Auto Salvage event by taking a clear and decisive lead from the start over the six rounds. The previous day winner Trevor Moffatt broke a throttle cable late on but was a beaten man on the tough hills. Steve Courts won the rear wheel drive class for the second time this weekend. Meanwhile, Rupert North took his customary front wheel drive class win over Mark Hoppe (who shared the car having broken his the day before). John Wadsworth won the new car class.
Franklin became the sixth winner in seven events and a very popular winner having followed his brother-in-law into the sport three years ago.
