Yorkshire's Rupert North won his first national championship trial outside Wales to win the Gaby Mohr Memorial Car Trial. Early (and unexpected) rain made conditions extremely challenging but North soon opened out a slender class lead over Neil Mackay who finished just two points behind. Steve Courts had a close battle to beat Bill Moffatt who lead first thing with Courts regaining the lead on the last round. Nick Pollitt lead in the new car class all day in his diesel Skoda Fabia, while Nigel Green and Nigel Weeks (Hillman Imp) had a close battle throughout whereby the class lead changed nearly every other section with the Escort of Green winning by two points in the end.
