MSF Profile – Jess Fack

Name – Jess Fack

Hometown – Wadebridge, Cornwall

Age – 20

Disciplines you support / compete within – Sporting Trials, Motorbike Trials and Vintage Hill Climbs/Sprints

Plans for 2008 within motorsport – Continue as a passenger in the Sporting Trials championship, over the next year I would like to begin to drive too, help organise an event for MSF in National Motorsports Week and continue to support our Drive Programme in its maiden year

What is the average cost of an event you compete on – For each Sporting Trial you are looking at a typical entry fee of around £30, a 5 litre can of petrol, or a couple of tanks of gas and then the travel costs to get to each event, so all in all about £100 total

How did you get started in motorsport – I was born into motorsport- I don't think I had too much choice in the matter! Started out going to trials when I was in a push chair, then moved on to marshalling when I could walk and then passengering in events when I turned 16. Have always been a spectator at Vintage Hill climbs and Sprints and at bike trials, would like to start riding in these too.

When was you first event – First event was double passengering for my dad and my uncle at the Cornish Trials weekend, it was beautiful weather and the ground was in great condition for a brilliant event. Unfortunately we broke down with distributer problems; this was before our car went under a major face lift becoming almost unrecognisable!

How long have you been involved in motorsport – Around 12 years

High points of your involvement – Too many to name really but: Winning my first trial with John and then repeating the performance a couple of months later, consistently coming top of the class with Roland, watching my brother beat John and Julian in John's car and dad and I beating Sam at the same event in the same car…. Just!

Low points – Not really got any low points but I guess making a really silly mistake costing us a good placing and all the bumps and bruises that appear after the trial has finished!

Strangest experience – Ending up in a 4 foot deep badger hole and having to lift the car out of it again. The driver got slightly confused on the direction and we ended up with the top side of the car down this hole, needless to say we didn't go any further on the section.

Future plans – I'm going to carry on passengering for my dad in Sporting Trials, I want to start driving as well over the next year. I also wouldn't mind having a go at an Autotest as they look brilliant fun but generally I would like to carry on having fun with my involvement in all things motorsport!
