All the top drivers made mistakes all day, already in summer break mode, but the top six are covered by just two points, with John Fack winning.
Harolds Tyres Sporting Trial

Duncan Stephens lead the Harolds Tyres sporting trial all day, but a puncture and lack of ground clearance on his last section cost him the trial, which was won by John Fack, who had driven out of a section early on. The top six competitors were all very close covered by just two points. Tom Rees continued is fantastic return to the sport and won the novice class in eight, and Dave Rance the intermediate class in tenth.

This sets up the second day of the traditional two-day to be fascinating, with the event the most open for years.

Following the cancellation of the Jigger Jug in February the first day of the May bank holiday trials has been included in the BTRDA Championship as a replacement.
