Roland Uglow made the long trip from Cornwall to Yorkshire to retain the Stuart Butterfield trophy. In deteriorating conditions of strong winds and rain the hills forced a reduction to just three rounds. Andy Wilks lost his second trial on a tie-break in a week. Richard Sharp returned to form and was challenging for the lead but slipped back to third just two points behind in front of George Watson. Mike Salton won the top live axle surprising many by beating multiple British champion John Fack in his state of the art MSR and Andrew Woodhead on a tiebreak. Pat Henson was just outside the top ten beating MSA championship leader Simon Kingsley. Richard Waterhouse won the clubman section in a strong overall field of thirty one crews, where amazingly the optimum score was just twelve to Uglow’s thirty two.
