Mercian Trial

Event Report

John Fack returned to his own MSR and won a third event of the autumn, retaining the Mercian Cup from runner up Ian Veale, by a margin of 6 points. This years front runner in the British Championship, Ian Wright, was a point further back in 3rd in turn just pipping young Josh Veale to 4th with the battle for the runners up spot covered by just 2 points. Simon Kingsley had a steady day to finish fifth ahead of Cornishman Colin Flashman, who seems to enjoy his outing’s to Long Compton, with another excellent day at this venue. Bob Packham won the intermediate live axle in an incredible seventh overall on the long challenging sections which saw a fantastic bumper entry of 38. Ross Bruce, was another man to excel on a challenging day coming second in class and tenth overall. Fresh from the Ken Wharton International Autotest Alastair Moffatt won the intermediate independent class, while Mike Storrar made it a fabulous day for then Northerner competitors winning the Rookie class. David Rance returned for only his second event in three years to win the clubman section that saw BTRDA and MSA Car Trials champion Mark Hoppe find sporting trials much harder than it looks, but nevertheless enjoying his first outing at a sporting trail. We look forward to seeing him out again and climbing up the results list. Dave Oliver produced some fabulous climbs to win the post historic class which also saw him inside the top half overall.
