Roland wins the Derbyshire after thirty one years…. 

 

Roland Uglow and Laura Wilks won a very wet challenging Derbyshire trial for the first time after thirty years of trying following a stunning afternoon dropping thirteen points less than his nearest challenger. Tom Bricknell also made the trip from Cornwall and lead at lunchtime but drove into a hidden tree stump bending his front axle immediately after lunch, but Rolands brilliant afternoon won the trial by 13points. Duncan Stephens was using all his Crossle engine revs to complete a Crossle podium and finish third for the third time this year. Ian Bell finished fourth struggling with ignition problems and the engine cutting out ahead of Julian Fack who blew his head gasket right at the end of the trial. Robin Jager used all fifty one years of his trialling experience to do some masterful trickling and finish top live axle and top none gas powered car in seventh overall. Mike Readings fresh from his Silver Star win last month won the intermediate class on a tie break from George Watson with one more clean. Mark Dayson won the novice class by a single point from Richard Thomas on what proved to be a very tough but rewarding days trialling.
