Rupert North drove superbly in extremely dry conditions to win the Matthews Auto Salvage Car Trial on Saturday using all the nimbleness of his Mini to totally dominate the event throughout. Dave Oliver proved his closest challenger in his Imp, while Duncan Stephens and Neil Mackay tied for second place in North's class, struggling a little in bigger cars. The new car class saw an encouraging seven entries closely matched with the top three within three points with Endaf Evans, beating Nick Pollitt (who was driving his Lotus Elise) and Dave Thomas.
