Ernest Owen Car Trial
Event Report
Barrie Parker made it another win in his Toyota MR2 (for sale!) and in so doing will once again be presented with the annual Mac Hazlewood trophy for being the highest points scorer in the season. John Moffatt won the front wheel drive class and secured the 2012 British championship, having previously won the 1999 British Autotest championship, and Moffatt's father Bill been a five times winner. Steve Courts took second overall, beating Oliver for the first time this year. Tim Beard had a good day in the well contested new car class to win in slippery conditions from Dave Allman who shared the car. 2010 British champion Duncan Stephens couldn't live with Moffatt all day and finished eighteen points behind and second in class, just ahead of another past champion Neil Mackay. John Ludford won the highly modified class and finished sixth overall. In the clubman section Tony Bishop won overall from classic trialler Dean Partington and Helen Bourne who was doing her first car trial in the ex-BTRDA/MN Drive Nissan Micra.
