Dennis Wells Memorial Trial

Event Report

Duncan Stephens made it three wins from three starts at the Dennis Wells car trial despite numerous retirements in his class. Stephens’ power skills were used early on to open a lead, but then two stunning climbs just before lunch secured the class by twenty points from previous day winner Dave Oliver who was also enjoying second gear in the 205!

Nick Pollitt trailled Henry Kitching early on but a better second round saw him take the lead to win at the end by five points, placing them second and third overall.

Barrie Parker transferred into the highly modified class in his Westfield and had a day-long battle with Kevin Roberts’ Dutton to finally finish two points ahead.

Conditions dried significantly in the afternoon, lowering scores dramatically, with only Stephens dropping less than 100 points.

1 Duncan Stephens, Vauxhall Nova, 88%
2 Nick Pollitt, Citroen Saxo, 92.1%
3 Henry Kitching, Vauxhall Corsa, 95.5%
4 Barrie Parker, Westfield, 95.6%
5 Kevin Roberts, Dutton, 97.3%

Event Details

Day 2 of our first Welsh Weekend of the year and we return to Clwyd Vale MC’s old site at Dyserth, having been in Anglesey on Saturday. The site works well in most conditions and the event can be relied upon to be challenging, within a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. And the views (weather permitting!) are rather good too!
