John Moffatt claims his first BTRDA Spoon after winning the Dennis Wells Memorial trial.

Returning to its previous venue on the hilltop above Dyserth, we enjoyed an old-school car trial with none of the added features that have been introduced into the sport in recent years; this event was all the better for it.

With well over 30 entries, the increasingly popular Clwyd Vale Motor Club Car Trials, led by Pete Dale, put on a challenging trial in drying conditions, the sunshine taking a little of the sting out of the biting North wind. The big entry, longish sections and full use of the site made for rather slow rounds; these were curtailed to three in deference to many of the competitors with significant return journeys.

The results tell most of the story, most notable being the typically strong performance from John Moffatt (Nova) gaining him his first BTRDA Spoon for an event win; and superb Class wins from Tim Beard (Saxo), Paul Manning (Nova) and Nigel Griffith (Nova).
