Cymru Car Trial
Event Report
Duncan Stephens won the golden anniversary Gerry Evans Cymru trial organised by North Wales Car Club, becoming the eighth different winner of the season. Stephens led from the first section following an outstanding climb to win from Neil Mackay who finished just eight points behind. Nick Pollitt arrived in the ex-BTRDA MN Drive Micra, having broken the gearbox in the Saxo the day before, but that didn't stop him winning the new car class from Barrie Parker who was stopped from becoming the first person in the event's history completing a hat-trick of overall wins. Dave Oliver finished third overall in his Imp, having installed a new engine since the last event. Stephens was especially pleased to win as in 1964 the Cymru trial was the first trial his father Mike won.

Day 1 of our 2nd Welsh Weekend this year, the Gerry P Evans Memorial Golden Anniversary Cymru Trial – yes – 50 years – how far back can you remember competing on this event?!!!
North Wales Car Club have drawn our attention to the fact that no previous winner has ever achieved the hat-trick on this event, so the winner for the last two years, Barrie Parker, is under a little more pressure! And what an incentive for everyone else to ensure that tradition is maintained…
