BTRDA Grand Final Car Trial

Duncan Stephens won the BTRDA Car Trial final for the first time in his Dutton Melos, starring all day with some fabulous climbs. The preceding week rendered the original site unusable, so the organising club Ross & District Motor Sports pulled out all the stops to transfer to Stourport, allowing the event to take place. After winning his second MSA title in July, Stephens determination to complete the double was evident from the off, having missed out by two points in 2010, with some careful line choices in extremely tricky and slippery conditions. As the day progressed Stephens' domination of the trial increased. As conditions worsened, many critical gear changes allowed him to win his class by over a hundred points from Brian Roberts, who won the Bronze Star.

Neil Mackay  finished a spirited second overall having opened up over a thirty point lead from Les Andrew with some fantastic trickling all morning, while Nick Pollitt won the new car class from Tim Beard by fifty points, with Beard winning the Silver Star. The battle of the day was in the rear wheel drive class with Dave Oliver, who had forgotten his glasses, Barrie Parker, Steve Courts and Bill Moffatt (who have won the Gold Star eighteen times between them) having a tremendous tussle all day with the lead changing numerous times throughout until Parker and Oliver were tied at the end with Courts just two points behind. Oliver won the class by virtue of one more clear on the twenty four sections.
