Alan Houson Memorial Trial

Event Report

Duncan Stephens won the first running of the Alan Houson Memorial Car Trial on Sunday in atrocious conditions near Milton Keynes, the opening round of the British and BTRDA championships.

Heavy rain shortened the event, but Stephens' domination all day was total, dropping just two points in his Nova ahead of Barrie Parker, who was back out in his Scirocco, dropping forty nine points, with ace autotester Roger Holder and former champion Les Andrew within two points, Andrew ruing the car cutting out a couple of times costing him second in class. Chris Judge won the new car class, and Dave Oliver the rear wheel drive class who slowly opened out a nineteen point lead on Steve Courts. Stephens early challenger Colin Reid retired at lunch time with engine problems in his Golf GTi.
