Event Report

The last AutoSOLO at Throckmorton airfield, near Pershore was enjoyed by all those who drove the 3 runs at each of the 4 slalom type tests. The weather also did its bit by providing sunshine all day. The BTRDA entrants did not quite manage to get the overall honours with FTD going to the MX5 of Jim Bryant and the saloon car class going to the current BTRDA champion, Steve Conner in his Puma who beat Alan Wakeman (pictured below) in his Clio by a mere 1.9 seconds. MX5 driver Richard Yapp was the best BTRDA sports car driver in second place in class behind Jim followed by fellow MX5 driver Mark Summers (pictured below) and Peter Cox in his Honda S2000.

The site is now going to be used for storing motor vehicles which means another old airfield site is lost to motorsport. Many of us have enjoyed the wide open spaces of this airfield and it will be sadly missed.
