Event Report
GBS Kit Spares BTRDA Autosolo Championship
Well who would have thought with the weather of recent weeks, the fore-mentioned event would go ahead. The first ever event in the new 'National B' BTRDA Championship went off with a splash, the rain had held at bay all week and at 11am on the dot as forecast the heavens opened.
The usual players in the Autosolo spectrum had all turned out, ready for what without a doubt should be an extremely competitive year. The National B championship has attracted 18 entrants in its early stages, with 11 turning out for the first event.
The largest class was the up to 1400cc National B, with 14 contenders. Eventual winner Roger Holder with his fleet of Starlets was challenged all day by Haydn Marks, John Fox and Jamie Yapp.
The sports cars and kit cars were shown the way by a rather impressive MX5 with LSD, but hats have to come off to those in the kit cars for commitment even with water streaming in eye line.
Top Championship points end up going too Matthew Helm in class E, who managed to grab the honours in the final test in his classic Triumph Spitfire.
However the man that showed us all how the discipline is handled was Kevin Belcher in his rather impressive Subaru Impreza – I don't believe any of his times were threaten all day
Thanks have to go out to the organisers for their hard work and endeavours in the typical British weather.
Matt Helm.
