Bristol MC Solo

Event Report

The Bristol MC journeyed down the M5 to an old airfield near Westonzoyland for their first AutoSOLO of the year after the Chepstow venue was lost to building. A good sized entry attacked the tests laid out on the old runway which did unfortunately start to break up and needed a bit of sweeping between runs to get it clear. With his son taking over the family Clio Alan Wakeman was out in the reliable Micra and went well to finish 5th overall (including the Clubman entries!). You can see from the pictures that on occasions it was a 3 wheeling Micra! With just Alan in the Nat B class A his championship score was based on the amalgamated times with Class B where past champion Steve Conner in his Clio headed the list, followed by the BMW 318 with revised suspension of Haydn Marks who was just 0.2 secs quicker than Alan. Mark Summers did not have one of his best days with pylon penalties spoiling his good runs and he also had to contend with the runners in the Bristol MC MX5 championship. Final BTRDA points scorer was Peter Cox in his Honda S20000 which was a bit of a handful on the tighter bits.
