Motorsport News John Fox invited to International Ken Wharton Autotest

On Saturday 18th October is the premier autotest in the world, the Ken Wharton International Autotest. This is an invitation only event, like no other, with teams of four from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland and an International Ladies. A number of reserves also run in the event of mechanical problems.

BTRDA Motorsports Future (MSF) have managed to secure a reserve drive for one of the BTRDA Drive participants. This will be a fabulous experience with all the best autotesters demonstrating their skills. John Fox (Motorsport News winner) and Julian Archard (Under 17 Car Club winner) have both experienced two autotests during the DRIVE program this year.

MSF have selected John to represent BTRDA Drive at this historic event following his ability to adapt his normal driving skills to the specialist skills needed for autotesting. While both John and Julian have been very evenly matched its has been John who has just beaten Julian at both autotests with some very close times.

This will no doubt be a fabulous experience and we hope that John wont feel too daunted, as we are sure lots of support and advice especially from the Irish who always have something to say!! The Ken Wharton offers an unique atmosphere and character as the event is like no other with only one test running at any one point.

To make things even better John will not be driving the Drive Micra, but a purpose built stripped out Autotesting Nova courtesy of RICHARD EGGER INSURANCE. We are very greatful to Richard Egger Insurance for the loan of the Nova and the ongoing support he has given BTRDA Drive in this first year. The Nova will be much easier to handle than the Micra, on an autotest, in what tend to be intricate tests. John and all within Motorsports Future are very appreciative Richard's generosity in using one of his Nova's. This deal has only just been put together so while we know getting used to a completely different car will be challenging for John, we am sure he will adapt very well as he has shown throughout the Drive program.

The event runs at the Arrow Mill Hotel, Arrow, near Alcester from 9am Saturday 18th October.
