Sporting Trial Training Day

Event Details

Sporting Trials Training Days

BTRDA run two training days a year, in Spring and Autumn, often at Shelsley Walsh near Worcester and Long Compton near Banbury.

Their purpose is twofold, to allow those interested in joining the sport to “have a go” and see if it really is for them, before investing in any hardware, and secondly to help those who have already invested to learn to drive safely and to shake down their cars before entering a proper competition, all under the watchful eye of very experienced instructors.

The cost is low (£65 per day) and each participant gets 50% of the driving for the day in a competitive modern trials car with the instructor (owner) in the passenger seat. The action starts at about 10.30 and finishes around 4pm so it is a very full day. There is a lunch break to allow time for discussion and questions. Most participants will have learned to drive a learner grade trials hill (section) by the end of the day. Those bringing along their own cars get a discount on the fee.

Drivers must take part in a Training Day before entering a BTRDA Championship Trial, for reasons of safety.

Saturday 16th October – Long Compton, Warwickshire.

This year we hope to run one at Long Compton on Saturday the 16th October, Covid restrictions permitting. Obviously it is not possible to maintain social distancing within the cramped cockpit of a trials car.
