Wright sneaks it in the end.
Loughborough Sporting Trial
Loughborough Car Club
MSA, BTRDA Championship
26 starters
Ian Wright and Simon Kingsley were the class of the field at a cold Loughborough sporting trial having a day long tussle each taking turns to lead. Andy Wilks tied with them after the first round but slipped back to third overall come the end. Running consecutively they could see what each other was scoring and with climbing the last hill Wright won the trial by a just single point and take his second win of the year after Kingsley dropped a one.
The section conditions gradually deteriated as the day went on after heavy overnight rain. British champion Roland Uglow finished in back in fourth in a tightly scored bunch to complete the top ten. Josh Veale was top live axle in fifth in one of his last outings in his current Sherpa, with Peter Fensom in sixth having also started very well challenging for the lead.
Northerner Boyd Webster won the intermediate class in seventh from Stuart Beare who completed the top ten with his daughter Kate passengering for the first time. Mutliple past champions John Fack and Roger Bricknell tied for eighth in contrasting old live axle Facksimile and state of the art MSR.
Pat Henson won the novice class in twentieth just ahead of Ian Fullwood.
