BTRDA CAR TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP
The opening round of the new Edward Fox Printers BTRDA Car Trials Championship will be held on Sunday 17 February at Great Brickhill, nr. Milton Keynes, with Falcon Motor Club's Southern Autos Car Trial. Entries for the sport into Class A are being encouraged from drivers of everyday cars, typically small saloons and hatchbacks.
Commenting on the re-named sport, which followed a number of strategic changes to make trials for everyday cars more accessible and inherently more interesting for the new Class which is open to cars no older than 12 years, BTRDA Car Trials Championship spokesman Neil Mackay said "the new class for these younger cars presents a real opportunity for a competitor in this class to feature strongly, with event and championship wins very much within reach." "To win the BTRDA Car Trials Gold Star® trophy should be the ambition of any serious contender", added the 3-time winner of this coveted award.
The BTRDA worked closely with the Motor Sports Association on the rule changes and are encouraging motor clubs to introduce subtle changes and alternatives to the layout of competitive sections that will encourage and maintain the interest of newcomers to the sport. It is hoped that these initiatives will attract drivers of the popular small hatchbacks, the Citroens, Micras, Corsas and Peugeots being widely available and particularly suitable.
