2016 Champion Alastair Moffatt was Clerk of the Course for the Foxley Autotest on Sunday, leaving the way clear for several other competitors to fight for the honours. First to take the lead were Malcolm Livingston (Lindsay Special) and Chris Chapman (RAW Striker), who were just 0.4 seconds ahead of Dave Evans (Blitz Special) after three tests. Richard Pinkney (Caterham 7) was a further 4.4 seconds back having gathered a penalty on the second test. Dave Evans then completed a blistering second round to lead from Malcolm Livingston by 0.7 seconds and Chris Chapman a further 1.5 seconds behind.
The lunchtime scoreboard, after 9 tests, showed that Chapman had regained the lead from Evans despite both gathering a penalty on the third round, with Pinkney charging into second place with a penalty free run. Malcolm Livingston was fourth, a further 5.9 seconds back.
The 6 afternoon tests were no less competitive, and Richard Pinkney took the lead after the fourth round, with Chapman now 3.6 seconds behind and Evans a further 0.8 seconds back having gathered a penalty. The final round saw both Pinkney and Livingston gather penalties, leaving Chris Chapman to speed into the lead by 3.8 seconds from Pinkney, in turn just 0.5 seconds ahead of Evans in third place. Livingston and a fast finishing John Moffatt (Westfield) completed the top five.
